In this, the fourth challenge of the year for high schools, students were asked to completely rethink the prom committee concepts of yore and update them to design a sustainable, 21st century green event. The ideas submitted were innovative and forward-thinking, while at the same time, practical, appealing, and, for the most part, very doable. For example, suggestions for prom outfits ranged from wearing vintage to making dresses out of old clothing. Transportation options nixed renting gas-guzzling limos in favor of a biodiesel shuttle or bicycle taxis! Every aspect of the prom was reimagined from fundraising (sell reuseable water bottles) to food (grow your own!) and the results were absolutely inspiring! Here are the top winners:
